Tani Telas (Stephanie Navarro)

Contemporary abstract modern artist and painter

I am Tani Telas, an artist from Corsica whose work reflects the vibrant spirit of the Mediterranean. Through my painting, I explore the emotions, struggles, and beauty of life in the region, with a deep focus on the role of women and the environmental impact of our world. My creations are an organic, dynamic fusion of colour, texture, and passion.

From the colourful coastlines to the mysterious and invigorating depths of the sea, my art draws on the rich emotions of the Mediterranean's past and present, particularly the unique position of women within this ancient and plural basin.

My creative process is deeply influenced by my travels and encounters, which have moved me profoundly. Whether it’s the human stories of resilience or the battles faced by women around the world, these narratives shape my work. I began painting in earnest after a life-changing trip to India in 2003, where I felt compelled to express my emotions through the medium of ink and paint. This led to my first series, "Guerreras," a tribute to the strength and endurance of women, which set the tone for much of my work thereafter.

Through my use of oil paints, natural pigments, and mixed media, I create textured, vivid landscapes of emotion. I mix traditional materials with recycled objects from the environment, reflecting my commitment to both personal and ecological responsibility. My paintings are not just art—they are statements, reflecting the beauty, the struggles, and the profound human experiences that define our shared existence in the Mediterranean.

As an artist, I seek to bring the world a visual exploration of life through vibrant colours and evocative textures. From the calming curves of the sea to the urgency of environmental change, my work invites viewers to embark on a visual voyage that is both intimate and universal, a testament to the ongoing struggle for peace and understanding in our ever-changing world.
