Renata Gianelli

Paper, light and graphic artist

I am an artist and educator specialising in handmade paper, graphic art, and light sculptures and art teacher at The School of Paper, project of the CARTE DIEM association

For years, I have run a thriving e-commerce business that offers limited-edition graphic artworks, unique handmade paper creations, and sculptural light pieces. My work merges traditional craftsmanship with experimental approaches, resulting in pieces that are both functional and profoundly artistic.

I have had the privilege of collaborating with renowned Italian museums, creating exclusive merchandise and limited-edition artworks on handmade paper. In 2004, I was honoured with the Excellence Award from the Chamber of Commerce of Bologna, recognising my contributions to the art and design world. In 2013, I founded La Scuola della Carta, an accredited institution where aspiring artists explore the creative potential of handmade paper.

In addition to my creative practice, I teach advanced courses and workshops that focus on the experimental techniques of graphic art and the artistry of handmade paper. I have coordinated projects for CARTE DIEM and served as Art Director for the BO it! International Illustration Competition, further cementing my role as a leader and mentor in the artistic community.

Every piece I create reflects my dedication to innovation, quality, and the transformative power of art. Whether producing delicate paper works or conceptual light sculptures, I strive to balance creativity with craftsmanship in ways that connect with people on a meaningful level.
