Mounya Kecha
Socially conscious artist
Born in Mulhouse in France, I have journeyed through a diverse and dynamic artistic career.
Hi, I'm Mounya Kecha, an artist and freelance graphic designer originally from Mulhouse, France. My artistic journey has been dynamic and deeply rooted in both traditional education and diverse life experiences. You can watch my interview woth Mark Walmsley here.
I started with a background in mathematics and philosophy, specializing in visual arts, which gave me a unique perspective on art’s connection to the human experience. After spending 12 years as a social worker, I transitioned into the world of design, earning a diploma in Graphic Design, focusing on visual communication and multimedia.
My passion for visual expression led me to train in painting at Arpajon and take drawing classes at the Louvre Museum in Paris, and that blend of theory and practice shapes my work today. I specialize in acrylic and spray paint, but I also explore oil, Indian ink, and charcoal. Whether sparked by photography or a moment of serendipity, my work often reflects themes close to my heart—like the human condition, environmental issues, and societal relationships.
I find inspiration in modern and contemporary art, pop rock, hip hop culture, street art, and graffiti. My murals, whether commissioned or collaborative, are a way for me to bring art into public spaces, turning walls into platforms for creative expression. I believe in the power of graffiti as a legitimate art form and participate in mural projects and competitions to promote this message.
Ultimately, I aim to create striking visuals that invite people to reflect on important societal issues, making art both a personal journey and a public experience.
