Multidisciplinary Artist: Painter, Model, and Actor

I’m a Mozambican-born artist, model, and actor living in London. My work reflects my life journey, blending passion, spirituality, and creativity to inspire others.

I’m Jose Rijo Oliveira, an artist, model, and actor with roots in Mozambique, now calling London home. My life has been an extraordinary journey—growing up under Portuguese colonization, serving in the military, and later moving to London in my thirties to start anew. My early years here were spent working as a cleaner, then a security officer, as I strived to improve my English and adapt to a new world. But something inside me was always calling out, and eventually, I found my true path through art.

As an artist, my work is deeply personal, capturing significant moments from my life, such as my birth, military service, marriages, immigration, and the painful loss of my first child. Every piece I create—whether it's oil, acrylic, or watercolour—is filled with sentiment and spiritual connection. My goal is to inspire others through my art, encouraging them to reflect on their own lives and perhaps even find a fresh start. I believe that art has the power to heal and transform, which is why I pour my heart into every stroke.

Beyond my art, I’m also passionate about modelling and acting, where I bring the same energy and depth that guide my painting. As a model, I've worked with renowned photographers and adapted to different looks and styles with ease. And as an actor, I discovered a new passion in my fifties, playing roles that draw on my rich life experiences. My first role, as a Dutch businessman in a film that bridged African and European cultures, felt like a perfect reflection of who I am.

In everything I do, I aim to challenge myself, create something unique, and inspire those around me. Whether it's a painting, a photoshoot, or a film, my work is always a blend of passion, creativity, and life experience.
