Andreas Van Zoelen

Saxophonist, conductor, teacher, and founder of saxophonemuseum.online

I'm Dr. Andreas van Zoelen, a classical saxophone professor based in Tilburg, the Netherlands, where I teach at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts. I perform with the Raschèr Saxophone Quartet, and I am passionate about preserving and sharing the history of the saxophone through my personal collection and museum. Music and the saxophone have been central to my life, and I’m constantly seeking to explore new possibilities for the instrument.

I’ve had the privilege of being a professor of classical saxophone at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Tilburg, the Netherlands, since 2006. I’ve been a member of the Raschèr Saxophone Quartet for many years, which is a special honour, as the quartet is the oldest of its kind in the world, founded in 1969 by saxophone pioneer Sigurd Raschèr.

In addition to my role as a teacher and performer, I run a small, personal saxophone museum, saxophonemuseum.online. It’s a space where I house over 140 saxophones, some of which are rare and part of a collection I’ve developed over the years. The museum isn’t an exhibition as such, but more of a living archive of the instrument’s rich history.

I’m deeply passionate about sharing the saxophone's potential with others, whether through teaching, performing, or just talking about the instrument. My travels have taken me around the world, playing with orchestras and attending events, and I look forward to continuing to explore the saxophone's possibilities for years to come.
