Meet Otto Plesne, the creative director of immersive experiences at RenaiXance.
Otto Plesner, creative director, innovator, and storyteller, crafts immersive shows and experiences that blend technology with raw human emotion through RenaiXance. Otto’s work pushes the boundaries of traditional performance, embracing the digital age while staying rooted in theatrical artistry.
Born into a family steeped in opera, Otto’s artistic sensibilities were shaped early on. His connection to theatre and entertainment has driven him to explore new ways of engaging audiences, blending storytelling with cutting-edge technology.
His professional journey began with Arbis Teatern in Sweden, where he performed as a musical theatre artist and burlesque dancer while also managing productions. This early hands-on experience in both artistic and operational aspects of theatre laid the foundation for his future leadership in the industry.
Between 2014 and 2016, Otto co-founded Pink Human, a creative venture dedicated to conceptual development and artistic experimentation. Following this, he moved to Paris, where he worked with Omnistage Productions as a producer, refining his skills in storytelling and project execution.
His trajectory continued as he took on a leadership role at the Danish National School of Performing Arts from 2016 to 2019, serving as a production and stage manager. During this time, he developed a keen understanding of theatrical production on a larger scale, guiding projects from concept to execution.
In 2020, Otto became the Creative Director for Plugged Live Shows in the Netherlands, overseeing large-scale productions and collaborating with global brands. His tenure there saw him developing immersive experiences that redefined how audiences engage with live entertainment.
In 2023, Otto embarked on a new chapter, founding RenaiXance—an avant-garde creative studio dedicated to pushing artistic boundaries. With RenaiXance, Otto and his team of visionaries curate bespoke shows and experiences that challenge conventions and inspire audiences worldwide. Their projects span multiple disciplines, merging performance, artificial intelligence, and interactive storytelling to create groundbreaking artistic expressions.
RenaiXance is more than just a production house; it is a movement, a collective of visionaries committed to crafting experiences that ignite imagination. With bases in Amsterdam and Copenhagen, RenaiXance operates on a global scale, curating bespoke performances that captivate audiences and inspire action.
Working with world-renowned institutions like Universal Pictures, World Expo Dubai, or the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, Otto and his team are at the forefront of artistic innovation.
Recognised as a thought leader in the intersection of creativity and technology, Otto was named a LinkedIn Top Creativity and Innovation Voice in 2023, amassing a following of over 23,000. As a keynote speaker, he continues to share his insights on the future of art, innovation, and the evolving landscape of live experiences.
Through his relentless pursuit of artistic evolution, Otto Plesner stands at the forefront of a new renaissance in performance and storytelling—one where imagination knows no limits, and the future of art is redefined with every creation.

The Art of Memory: Otto Plesner's current project
As a change from the usual fantasy cultural year, Otto introduced the project The Art of Memory, which aims to raise awareness about Alzheimer's disease through immersive experiences.
In a nutshell
The project involves a deeply moving story, multi-sensory experiences, and collaborations with digital artists, with potential locations in London or the United States. Otto discussed his search for partnerships, sponsorships, and a suitable venue, with Mark offering support and suggesting potential investors or philanthropists.
Where it comes back to
Otto explained that his grandmother had passed away from Alzheimer's, and he had written a song to reconnect with her. He played the song at her Alzheimer's home, and for a brief moment, she remembered him and their family. The Art of Memory project aims to use art as a catalyst for change and to have a real-life impact on people's lives.
The project
Otto proposed using multi-sensory experiences, including music, scent, and visuals, to trigger memories and emotions. The experience would follow the journey of a couple from falling in love to the wife's death due to Alzheimer's. Otto also mentioned incorporating data from EEG and fMRI scans of Alzheimer's patients and healthy brains into the experience. The project involves a script, set design, and collaboration with digital artist Scrambler.
The aim is to create a deeply moving story that captures the emotional aspects of both the patient's and caregiver's experiences.
How you can help
Otto discussed his search for partnerships, sponsorships, and a suitable venue for his project, which aims to raise awareness about Alzheimer's disease. He mentioned that the project has already made significant progress, with scripts, set design, visuals, and talent in place.
Otto is considering London or the United States as potential locations for the project, given the high prevalence of Alzheimer's in these regions.
He also shared his budget estimates, ranging from $400,000 for a smaller scale to $1.7 million for a larger scale, depending on the scale and complexity of the project.
