Meet Lorwen Nagle.

Lorwen Harris Nagle, is a visionary clinical psychologist and abstract artist, whose canvas extends far beyond traditional boundaries. With over two decades of professional experience in clinical psychology, Lorwen has pioneered groundbreaking methods to assist individuals in conquering anxiety, fostering emotional intelligence, and unleashing their latent creativity.

Armed with a PhD in Clinical Psychology from UT Austin and a post-doctorate from Harvard University, she blends therapeutic expertise with artistic flair.

It was inspiring to hear Lorwen's journey into art and she provided some particularly delightful answers to My Fantasy Cultural Year game.

Lorwen's journey has been marked by a deep exploration of human experience and cultural diversity. Her work with immigrant communities, particularly Mexican Americans and Tibetan refugees in India, has not only enriched her understanding of the human psyche but also provided a rich tapestry of inspiration for her artistic endeavours.

In the early 2000s, Lorwen's path took an unexpected turn when she embraced the world of visual art. Initially drawn to landscapes and seascapes, she honed her skills under the tutelage of the esteemed plein air teacher, David P. Curtis. Together, they forged a unique approach that merged technical precision with emotional depth, laying the groundwork for Lorwen's future artistic evolution.

However, tragedy struck in 2021 with David's untimely passing, propelling Lorwen into a period of profound introspection and artistic redefinition. Embracing experimentation and abstraction, she embarked on a quest to redefine her artistic identity, exploring new mediums, styles, and textures in search of deeper connections with the natural world.

Drawing inspiration from the romanticism movement of the 19th century, her compositions blur the boundaries between reality and imagination, inviting viewers on a journey of subjective interpretation and emotional resonance.

For Lorwen, art is not just a form of expression but a conduit for personal growth and self-discovery. Each brushstroke is imbued with the essence of her own journey—a journey of unveiling authenticity, shedding societal constraints, and embracing the possibilities of creativity.

Through her art and her practice as a psychologist, Lorwen Nagle empowers individuals to tap into their innermost selves, confront their fears, and embrace the transformative power of self-expression. In her hands, the canvas becomes a mirror, reflecting not only the beauty of the world but also the depths of the human soul.
