Meet John Monday.
Meet John Monday, the dedicated and compassionate founder and Executive Director of Educate A Child International, a community-based organisation in Kasese district, Uganda.
Mark had a great time meeting John, creating his Perfect Cultural Life and playing The This or That game which you can watch above.
Born and raised in challenging conditions, John's deep connection to his community motivated him to establish an organisation to address the aftermath of tribal and political conflicts and floods that left his community grappling with poverty, disease, and malnutrition.
After completing his university education, John embarked on a mission to find sustainable solutions to address the challenges facing his community. This led to the creation of Educate A Child International, focusing on areas of education, health, economic empowerment, and environmental conservation.
Operating in the Rwenzori Region, Educate A Child International aims to unlock human potential for the development of Uganda as a nation. The organisation operates as a registered Non-Governmental Organisation, with its offices located in Kasese Habitat, Nyamwamba West cell, Nyamwamba division, Kasese municipality.
John's vision extends to various projects, such as the Village Saving and Loan Association project, empowering young mothers through small savings and loan associations. The Keep a Girl Child in School project addresses menstrual hygiene challenges by mobilising resources for girls in Kasese, ensuring they have access to sanitary pads and can continue their education.
The Promote My Talent project focuses on nurturing local talent by establishing a recording studio in Kasese, providing a platform for young artists, comedians, and dancers to showcase their skills. The organisation also collaborates with local radio stations to broadcast their music and videos, opening doors for these talented youths to participate in concerts and events.
In partnership with the Global Schoolhouse project, John's organisation established a schoolhouse providing free education to children. Additionally, the Clean Cooking and Clean Energy, Biochar Fertilizer, and Rabbits for Every Family projects showcase the organisation's commitment to sustainable development and improving livelihoods.
Through the Tree Planting Campaign, John encourages households and schools to plant trees every season, contributing to environmental conservation efforts.
He expresses his gratitude to supporters and partners for the progress achieved, emphasising the positive impact on the community. His leadership and the organisation's initiatives reflect a commitment to promoting human rights, advocacy, and local solutions for poverty reduction, better service delivery, and sustainable development in Uganda.
