Meet Kathleen Sykes

Meet Kathleen Sykes, a whirlwind of creativity, strategy, and digital marketing prowess. Known for her innovative content-creation techniques and audience-focused writing strategies, Kathleen is a marketing strategist, consultant, and copywriter extraordinaire.

Her clients swear by her ability to spin concepts into compelling narratives, all while ensuring a robust return on marketing investment. From running high-stakes marketing campaigns to fostering vibrant online communities, Kathleen is the secret sauce behind many successful brands.

In this interview, Kathleen shared her background and current work in the arts, expressing her interest in returning to the performing arts sector. Mark created her Fantasy Cultural Year, transporting her to the exquisite city – Paris! Playing The This or That game also gave us a taster for who she is.

Kathleen's journey began with a Bachelor of Arts in Arts Administration from Westminster University. It was here that she discovered her knack for blending artistic vision with strategic planning - a combination that would define her career.

One of her early triumphs was spearheading a marketing campaign for high-ticket retreats. In just 60 days, she generated a whopping $35k. Her magic touch didn't stop there; she transformed the social media presence of a non-profit performing arts brand, boosting their following by an impressive 333% over five years.

A heart as big as her talent, Kathleen used her website design skills for a fundraiser supporting Ukraine, centralizing information and helping raise $135,000 in a single week. This project underscored her commitment to using her expertise for good.

Kathleen's work on the "642" book series by Chronicle Books earned a regional American Advertising Award nomination. She also grew the series' Facebook community to over 25,000 followers in under six months. Her flair for creating engaging content shone through in her social media campaign for Utah Opera's modern twist on Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville,” where she used TikTok-style snippets and engaging visuals to captivate the audience.

When writer and podcaster Meghan Daum sought help launching The Unspeakeasy, Kathleen was the go-to expert. She oversaw the rebrand, ran targeted social media ads, and automated financial and marketing operations. Her efforts paid off, growing the email marketing list by 86% and generating over $70,000 in retreat sales for the 2024 season.

Kathleen’s services span content strategy, email marketing, social media marketing, brand identity, content production, and writing. She has a unique ability to thread the needle between concept and execution, helping clients develop coherent brand storytelling and increase engagement.
