Meet Crista Cloutier ...

Crista Cloutier's journey in the contemporary art world has been nothing short of remarkable.

Artist, writer, speaker, and workshop leader, Crista has been actively involved in the art scene throughout her career and understands its world inside and out.

In our interview, I created Crista's perfect fantasy cultural travel year from the answers to 10 easy questions. It was a lot of fun.

Recently honoured as an “Influencer in the Contemporary Art World” by LinkedIn, she has sold artwork to galleries, museums, and collectors throughout the world, including prestigious institutions such as New York’s Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Los Angeles County Museum, Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts, the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, and the Chicago Art Institute.

Over the course of her career, Crista has collaborated with some of the most significant contemporary artists showing today, such as James Turrell, Vik Muniz, Kiki Smith, Judy Chicago, Andres Serrano, Carrie Mae Weems, Faith Ringgold, Kate Breakey, Mark Klett, Jaune Quick-To-See Smith, Luis Gonzalez Palma, Philip Pearlstein, Richmond Burton, Sandow Birke, Enrique Chagoya, Elizabeth Catlett, Bevelry McIver, and William Wegman.

Fully certified as a fine art appraiser, Crista has worn many hats in the art world, from working as a licensor, arts writer, gallerist, award-winning documentary filmmaker, to fine-art publisher and curator.

Her curated exhibitions have received reviews in prestigious publications such as Art in America, Huffington Post, Wall Street Journal, and Flash Art.

Crista's contributions to the art world extend beyond exhibitions. She has penned essays and articles for numerous artist and museum catalogues, as well as publications like The Guardian, Huffington Post, The Daily Mail, Contrary, Creative Camera, Yale Press, and Gallimard.

Today, Crista divides her time between her homes in London, Provence, and Scottsdale, AZ. As the founder of The Working Artist, Crista shares her wealth of knowledge and experience to empower artists and creatives worldwide. Her workshops, which have reached audiences globally, equip individuals with the tools they need to navigate the business side of art and make their creative passions profitable.
